Japan Boat License (1st Class)

          To operate a boat in Japan, you must have a boat license. There are different levels of boat licenses that are issued by Japan government sanctioned boat schools. The levels for boat licenses range from 4th class for small boats/ personal watercraft to 1st class for the largest size recreational vessels (20 tons) that venture further offshore.

          To obtain a Japanese boat license, you must take a course and pass the government sanctioned exam. There are several schools that offer the course and administer the exam in Japanese and also in English:
