Greg Martin is the founder and operator of Intrepid Seas and the Okinawa regional instructor for the Aoki Sailing School. What started out as just a hobby, sailing around Okinawa in an old sailboat has in just a few years, turned into an obsession...
In May 2004 Greg ended seven years of service in the U.S. Navy and ended up staying at his last duty station, Okinawa. While serving as a school teacher in the local schools, Greg had the opportunity in his free time to develop his lifelong passion of sailing into an informal sailing school at the U.S. Air Force's Kadena Marina. While there, Greg helped establish the facility as Okinawa's only ASA affiliated sailing school, to serve the overwhelming community interest in sailing. Greg taught over 200 students the basics of sailing on Kadena Marina's sailboats before his friend Karl Szilagyi took over.
In 2006, Greg had the honor of meeting Yoh Aoki, President of ASA Japan. Both Greg and Yoh Aoki share the same vision of promoting electric powered sailing as an enjoyable and responsible recreational activity and in some way, part of the solution to the world's biggest problems.
